8 College Move In Day Tips For A Super Easy Move In

College move in day!

Here’s 8 college move in tips for a stress free move in day.

COLLEGE MOVE IN DAY TIPS

1. BRING TOOLS

This one is huge! Bring a little travel set of tools. We were so thankful we brought ours, and people asked to borrow them since they didn’t bring any. Highly recommend!

2. BRING A DOOR STOP

I needed to go and buy one on move in day because we needed one so bad. It’s really hard to move in and out of your room without one!

As another tip, your local Walmart or Target will be essentially bare due to move in day. Think of these things in advance!

3. ARRIVE AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE

It gets busy super super fast. You’ll be thankful you’re there early! This gives you time to unpack more slowly and plan out what you need to do for the rest of the day.

4. COORDINATE WITH YOUR ROOMMATE

This is super critical! My roommate and I planned to get to our dorm at opposite times, which helped a ton. You’ll definitely want the entire dorm room to spread out your stuff and organize.

5. MAKE RESERVATIONS

I can guarantee your family wants to go out and eat after you’re all moved in, and that’s exactly what everyone else is planning to do!

Plan ahead and make reservations. This prevents you from having to wait in any long lines!

6. PACK SMART

Make sure you know what’s in every box and container. Pack everything in your room at home according to where you want it in the dorm room.

For example, put everything that’s going in one area in one box or boxes labeled the same. Closet, desk, bedding, etc.

7. BRING CLEANING SUPPLIES

Who knows the last time your dorm room was actually cleaned, and you’re going to be living in it!

Save yourself some time and clean everything before you start moving in. Bring clorox wipes, disinfectant, spray, microfiber clothes, etc.

These supplies are great to have in your dorm for the entire year, too!

8. RELAX!

This is the biggest tip I can give you. Everyone is nervous and I’m sure some stuff won’t go as planned. Enjoy this day with your family, and look forward to your upcoming college journey. It’s going to be a great year!
