This Is The Best Daily Routine For Students That You Have To Try

This post is all about the best daily routine for students.

College and high school students have a lot to juggle, and a daily routine for students is a sure-fire way to help them stay on track.

Between classes, studying, homework, friends, part-time jobs, exercise, clubs, family, hobbies, and a decent sleep schedule, it can seem pretty impossible to find balance.

That’s why it is crucial to develop a healthy daily routine as a student. So, we’ve put together a guide with the best tips, tricks, and routines for students.

Here is everything you need to know about the best daily routine for students.

HOW DO DAILY ROUTINES HELP STUDENTS?

The word “routine” tends to have a negative connotation–it can sound super boring and rigid, especially as a young student. However, a daily routine isn’t just about prioritizing work and increasing productivity.

It’s also about making time for the things you enjoy, like friends, socializing, hobbies, sleep, and well-deserved relaxation.

By creating an outline of your day, you can find the perfect balance between the things you need to get done and the things you love to do.

If you’re a college student, a healthy daily schedule will ensure that you get the most out of your college experience.

You’ll be able to find time for friends and social activities while still excelling at your classes, taking care of your health, and getting involved on campus.

If you’re a high school student, getting in the habit of making a daily routine will definitely prepare you for an amazing time at college in the future.

Either way, a daily student schedule is the best thing for your overall health, happiness, and organization.

Here are a few easy ways to find the best daily routine for students.

BEST MORNING ROUTINES FOR STUDENTS

Your morning definitely dictates how the rest of your day is going to go. If you kick off your daily routine from the minute you wake up, you’ll be able to conquer each day with tons of energy, organization, and mindfulness.

DAILY ROUTINE FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS

1. WAKE UP WITH PLENTY OF TIME BEFORE YOUR FIRST CLASS

If you have an early morning class, avoid waking up ten minutes before you need to be out the door.

You should wake up at least two or three hours before your first class, so you have time to properly get ready and prepare for the day with a clear head. For example, if you have a 9am class, set your alarm for 7am.

Pro tip: if you struggle with the snooze button, place your phone or alarm clock on the opposite side of your room so you physically have to get up to turn it off.

Once you’re out of bed, you’ll be less likely to hit that snooze button and fall back asleep.

2. DRINK WATER RIGHT WHEN YOU WAKE UP

Drinking water first thing in the morning will rehydrate your body, increase your alertness, fuel your brain, and kickstart your metabolism.

Place a glass or bottle of water next to your bed to help you remember this essential step to a healthy daily routine for students.

If you’re a coffee drinker, hydrate with water before you grab your morning cup of coffee.

3. ESTABLISH A HYGIENE ROUTINE

Having a set hygiene and beauty routine makes early mornings so much smoother. If you already have a schedule for brushing your teeth, skincare, showering, and makeup, you’ll feel much more motivated and ready to get the day started.

Plus, maintaining your personal hygiene will make you feel so much better and healthier inside and out.

4. MAKE TIME FOR EXERCISE

Making time for exercise doesn’t mean you have to hit the gym for a full-on sweat session every single morning (unless you totally want to do that!)

This time could mean doing stretches on your dorm floor for 10 minutes, walking on a treadmill, attending an on-campus yoga class, or going for a run.

Whether you set aside five minutes or one hour for exercise and body movement, you will face every day with more energy, strength, and mindfulness.

5. EAT A FILLING BREAKFAST

Whoever said breakfast is the most important meal of the day wasn’t joking around! The best morning routine for students always includes a filling, nurturing breakfast.

Start your morning with fruit, eggs, toast, oatmeal, or whatever you like to eat to ensure your body and brain have enough power to conquer the day.

6. CHECK YOUR PLANNER

As a college student, you are fully responsible for managing your own time and keeping track of assignments, exams, and other campus obligations.

That’s why you absolutely need a planner. A planner will help you organize and track both academic and non-academic plans, goals, and duties.

I like to review my planner every single morning so I can make sure that I’m all set for the day.

Did you do all of your homework for the classes you have that day? Do you have any exams or quizzes? Do you make any plans you forgot about?

7. MAKE A TO-DO LIST

I love setting goals and intentions for each day with a to-do list. A to-do list is the best way to structure your day and establish your priorities.

As you check off each list item, you will feel so productive and accomplished. This is the last thing I like to do before getting ready and heading off to class.

DAILY ROUTINE FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

1. WAKE UP AT THE SAME TIME EVERYDAY

A high school student’s schedule can be totally exhausting. Most high school students are in class from 7am to 3pm, then dedicate the rest of the day to homework, sports, after-school clubs, and family.

One way to adapt to this tiring schedule is by waking up at the same time everyday.

The consistency of waking up at the same time every morning is proven to improve your sleep quality, mood and sharpness.

Try setting your alarm for the same time every day, such as an hour before you have to leave for school.

2. DO A FEW STRETCHES

Since high school schedules usually start pretty early in the morning, you probably won’t have much time for exercise in the morning.

That’s okay–doing yoga stretches for five to 10 minutes in the morning in your bedroom will do wonders for your mind and body.

It’ll help you start your day feeling more strong and alert.

3. DON’T SKIP BREAKFAST

High school days are so long and require tons of energy. That’s why eating a big breakfast in the morning is a crucial step in a healthy daily routine for high school students.

It can even help you do better with test scores, memory, and class performance.

4. ESTABLISH A HYGIENE ROUTINE

It is so important to maintain your personal hygiene, but it can also be fun when you have an established routine that works for you.

Try figuring out a schedule of showering, brushing your teeth, washing your face, doing your hair, and doing your makeup that feels good.

Doing this schedule every morning will make you feel so much more confident walking into school and ready to tackle whatever the day has to offer.

5. TIDY YOUR ROOM

The cleanliness of your room definitely affects your mental health and productivity. If you don’t come home to a clean space after school, you won’t feel motivated to do homework or other activities.

To avoid this, tidy your room up a little bit in the morning. It doesn’t have to be anything major, but start by making your bed and picking your clothes up off the floor.

6. REVIEW YOUR PLANNER

Planners are also a major necessity for high school students. Before you head off to school, look over your assignments and plans so you can go into the day knowing what’s coming.

BEST EVENING ROUTINE FOR STUDENTS

Believe it or not, evening routines are just as important as morning routines. Why? Your evening and nighttime routine can dictate how well you sleep at night, which is one of the most important things for students.

This easy daily routine for the evening works for just about anybody.

1. DO YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE

A nighttime skincare regime is the best way to kick off your evening routine. You can wash the day off of your skin and wake up the next morning feeling fresh-faced and confident.

Plus, skincare can be an act of self-care. What feels better than under-eye cream and a face mask after a long day of classes and studying?

2. PREPARE YOUR OUTFIT FOR THE NEXT DAY

Lay out your outfit for the next day to avoid scrambling through your closet the next morning.

If you wake up without an idea of what you’re going to wear, you could end up being late or not having time for other steps of your morning routine.

Pick out an outfit the night before to make mornings way less stressful.

3. CHECK YOUR TO-DO LIST

Before you wind down, review the to-do list you made that morning to measure your productivity and see if there’s anything left to check off.

This is the perfect time to squeeze in any remaining studying, homework, or chores you haven’t completed yet.

4. WIND DOWN WITH SELF-CARE

Everyone deserves to set aside time for self-care and relaxation before going to sleep at night.

If you don’t properly unwind and de-stress before bed, you won’t have a high-quality night of sleep.

You can spend this time doing anything that makes you feel calm and happy–read a book, write in a journal, do yoga, meditate, or watch your favorite TV show.

5. TURN OFF YOUR ELECTRONICS AN HOUR BEFORE BEDTIME

The blue light from screens on phones, laptops, TVs, and tablets keep your mind active and alert, can increase anxiety, and negatively affect your vision.

To truly feel relaxed and ready for a cozy night of deep sleep, put your electronics away for at least an hour before bedtime.

6. HYDRATE!

Hydration is essential at all times of the day. Remember to drink tons of water before going to sleep to keep your body and brain fueled throughout the night.

You can keep a glass or bottle of water on your bedside table so you’ll also have it to hydrate first thing in the morning.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET OFF TRACK

Life is always unpredictable, especially as a college or high school student. If you forget or don’t have time for a step or two in your daily routine, it’s nothing to stress about.

Daily routines for students are supposed to help you feel happier, healthier, and more organized.

They’re not supposed to make you feel more stressed, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself if you can’t get it perfect every single day.
