2020 Dorm Room Inspiration
Before The Dorm Inspo…
Before we dive into the super cute dorm room inspiration for 2020, I wanted to take a chance to list some must have dorm room essentials. These essentials are all used by me, and they seriously make dorm life so much better.
These items all help make up the base of your dorm room – creating the perfect blank canvas for the decor that you love. Here are my ride-or-die dorm room essentials!
4 Inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Think 4 inches is excessive? Think again. Dorm room beds are seriously awful and hard as a rock. You want as much space between you and that mattress as possible. This 4 inch mattress topper is a top seller on Amazon and has some great reviews. I really recommend investing in it!
Microfiber Sheet Set
Microfiber sheets are perfect for covering your new 4 inch mattress topper. I cannot stress enough how important it is to invest money in your bed. This is the place you’re spending every night, resting for another big day of studying. Invest invest!
High Quality Pillows
To top off your new high quality sleeping situation, finish it off with some great high quality pillows. You’ll be sleeping more soundly than ever!
Dorm rooms come with essentially no organization. A cube organizer solves this problem by working as a nightstand with storage, all for an affordable price. Also, remember that you don’t need to fill every space with a cube bin. You can leave some empty to fill with decor!
3-Tier Rolling Cart
A 3-tier rolling cart is perfect for adding some affordable, fashionable storage to your dorm room. I used mine as my night stand, and to store an extra throw blanket and my favorite books. I also repurposed mine to use in my apartment bathroom my second year of college. Perfect!
Cutest Dorm Rooms of 2020
It is so innovative to add a cute hanging chair to the bottom of your lofted dorm bed. I love how this dorm uses orange and white to make the dorm room look bright and organized.
Pop Art Dorm Wall
Making your dorm room your own is key to making the space really feel like your home. Adding a gallery wall like the one pictured here is perfect for showing off your personality. Plus, images like the ones listed here don’t have to be expensive. Find some for free on the internet and print them off yourself.
A tapestry in the corner like this one is really nice for creating the illusion of a headboard, but much easier on the wallet. Pick a tapestry that complements your college dorm room theme, add some light and throw pillows, and you’re all set!
It is so gorgeous when roommates will color coordinate their dorm room. This works especially well if you know your roommate and plan to live together, or if you connected with your roommate early in the summer.
Color Matching Gallery Wall
Not only does this gallery wall act as a visual headboard, but it also matches perfectly with the rooms accent color. If you’re able to pull this off, please do. This is gorgeous.
Color-Coordinating and Space Saving
These roommates clearly planned their dorm room really meticulously. I love how they put the TV in a spot where they are both able to watch it, and they chose to put their beds along the walls to open up more floor space.
Ivy and Lights
This faux ivy is a top seller on Amazon, and it’s easy to see why. When paired with some white string lights, it creates a stunning backdrop on plain white cement dorm walls. Think of the instagram opportunities in front of this wall!
Chunky Knit Blanket and Abstract Throw Pillows
Chunky knit blankets are so aesthetically pleasing, especially when paired with a super cute college dorm room color scheme. I love how the base of this dorm room is white, but the accents are different shades of navy. Gorgeous!
If you take a closer look at this dorm room, you’re able to see that it’s made up of only black and gray elements. This creates such a clean and unique look, and is perfect for minimalist dorm rooms. Not all themes have to have a bright color, and this is a perfect example.
