37 Fall Date Ideas | The Cutest Date Ideas for Fall

It’s spooky season! If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know that I’ve started almost every post that has anything to do with Halloween this exact same way. Because it’s spooky season!

When I went to college, I was surprised how many people DIE for fall. I’m talking extra decor, costumes, fall themed meals, the whole works. It was surprising to me, yet super comforting that everyone seemed to love the pregame season to winter so much.

If you’re one of these people, make your date ideas the same.. fall themed. There’s so much to do during the fall, and everything can be made into a date if you try hard enough.

Fall date ideas are super fun, easy, and worth putting the time into. Grab your cute outfit, enjoy the aesthetically pleasing trees, and enjoy your romantic, cheap fall dates.

Here’s 37 fall themed date ideas I guarantee you’ll love.

1. THRIFT SHOP

Thrift shopping for stuff you need around the house is a great way to get save money, and have a super fun date while you’re doing it!

Thrift shops usually carry a lot more that is very usable than you’d expect, and its really fun to look through all the old stuff they have at thrift shops.

2. HAUNTED HOUSE

Haunted houses are everywhere during fall. Take advantage of this! Scare the poop out of yourselves at a haunted house to create a deep bond and have an amazing fall date.

3. CORN MAZE

Corn mazes are almost as instagram friendly as pumpkin patches. I was surprised how fun it is to go to corn mazes as adults. You can actually try and solve them, and it’s a really good time.

4. CAMPING

Camping in the fall is the perfect way to cozy up with your significant other and take a break from the real world for a little bit. Bring tons of blankets and firewood, and enjoy chilly, cozy nights by the fire.

5. SCARY MOVIE NIGHT IN

Love scary movies? Rainy outside? Have a scary movie night in with your partner and enjoy the Halloween season.

6. STAR GAZE

Star gazing is so romantic, and is bound to be a perfect fall date. Cozy up with someone and enjoy watching the stars!

7. SUNRISE/SUNSET KAYAKING

I just went sunrise kayaking with my partner Ian this week. We got up at literally 4:45am and were on the lake by 5:30am. It was super foggy, so we actually didn’t have a sunrise, but it was just as romantic and fun. I really recommend it!

8. RUN IN THE PARK

Love exercising? Running in the park is the perfect date idea if you’re both into running. In fall, the leaves start changing and it’s a much more comfortable temperature for longer runs.

9. APPLE PICKING

Want an instagram friendly date idea? Go apple picking! Take cute pictures together, and then go home and bake something with your freshly picked apples. Super cute!

10. BIKE RIDE

If running is a little too intense for a date, but you still want to get outdoors and exercise, just go for a bike ride! This way you still get to enjoy a nice park, but you don’t have to exercise so aggressively.

11. COSTUME SHOPPING

It’s almost Halloween, and it’s time to go costume shopping! I really like this date idea, since it can end up turning into a couple other dates. Halloween party date? Fall dinner date because costume shopping took awhile? Random thrift shop date? The possibilities are endless.

Cooking is super fun, especially if you’re really bad at it. Learn and giggle with your significant other and enjoy a new skill!

14. BOARD GAME NIGHT

Board games are starting to become more and more popular. There’s so many new options – just go and take a look at the game section in Target!

I love how everyone’s competitive side comes out when playing board games, and it’s so fun to start making into a tradition.

15. TURKEY BOWLING

I personally have never been turkey bowling, but people go kind of nuts for it. I mean, if throwing a frozen turkey towards some bottles with a bunch of people who are super excited about it sounds like something you’d like for a date, go for it.

16. ROCK CLIMBING

My partner Ian and I go rock climbing all the time! Ian is much more competitive and is captain on the rock climbing team, but I just go for fun, and to get a good workout.

Rock climbing is really good for all ages, and doesn’t take a ton of skill to start off. Plus, you get a great workout!

17. HIKING

Fall hikes are perfect for a last minute date idea. The leaves are just changing colors, and it’s the perfect weather where you don’t sweat your brains out a mile in. Hikes in the fall are ideal!

18. HAUNTED AMUSEMENT PARK

Love scary stuff? Lots of amusement parks change their whole theme and turn them “haunted.” Some are just festive with different costumed people and new decorations, and some turn into an all out horror park designed to scare you. Either way, both will be super fun and guaranteed to get into the Halloween spirit.

19. FOOTBALL GAME

Sports lovers? Go see your favorite football team! If buying tickets to see a professional team is a little out of the budget, go watch your old college team or attend the game of a college near your home. This is a great way to save money while still enjoying the football season.

20. DRIVE IN MOVIE THEATER

Drive in movie theaters are becoming more and more sparse, but they are quite the treat if you have one nearby. Bring your own snacks, and enjoy a cute movie date – in a different setting.

21. PICNIC

Fall picnics are so cute, and perfect for combining with another date. Hike to your favorite picnic spot, and gorge on fall themed foods. Pack pumpkin spice latte in a thermos to be extra cozy and extra trendy.

22. PAINTING CLASS

Paint and wine or paint and cheese nights have become more and more popular. Fall time is perfect for these! There’s some rainy, super cold days, and learning how to paint something new while enjoying some delicious snacks is a super fun activity for you and your significant other.

23. MAKE A SCARECROW

Have a cute front yard that you want to throw some fall festivities into? Make your own scarecrow! I thought that this was just the cutest craft night idea, and the results are pretty impressive.

There’s tons of tutorials online, so work with your budget and the supplies you have at home to make the perfect scarecrow for your front yard.

24. HAMMOCKING

As I’m sure you are well aware of by now, I LOVE hammocking. This was the first date that my partner Ian took me on, and ever since I’ve been hooked. Fall is the perfect time for hammocking dates! Bring some blankets, snacks, and enjoy sitting among the trees.

25. HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE

Do you and your significant other love watching the leaves change color in the fall? A hot air balloon is how you can get a truly birds eye view of the whole scene! I’ve heard that riding in a hot air balloon is super fun, relaxing, and romantic.

Whether you both buy and taste some local fall baked goods together or make them yourselves, this is guaranteed to be a great date idea. Plus, is there a more perfect way to get into the fall spirit other than eating it?

Volunteering is a great way to really get to know another person. My partner Ian and I enjoy clinic escorting, visiting the animal shelter, and helping a local nonprofit that works with youth in the community.

Just like going apple picking, a pumpkin patch is perfect for the perfect instagram date. Take tons of pictures, pick cute little pumpkins, and go on a hayride!

A farmers market is really good for the environment, and is such a cute place for a date! Look up some cute recipes online that use fresh produce, and enjoy a night of cooking, too.

30. ROAD TRIP

Pick a cheap destination, and settle in for a road trip. Road trips are a great time to listen to music, podcasts, and enjoy conversation with each other.

31. BONFIRE

Roast some marshmallows and enjoy the fall night! Bonfires are really fun for fall nights, since it’s more chilly out but not quite too cold for bonfires. If you live near a lake, bonfire nights are even better.

32. COOK DINNER TOGETHER

Have fun looking up a cute recipe together, go grocery shopping, and enjoy cooking a meal together! This is one of Ian and I’s favorite thing to do. It’s so relaxing, and get to enjoy a nice meal together at the end of it.

33. HAYRIDE

Apple picking, pumpkin patches, seasonal cider, and hay rides! These are so fun, especially when the ride is pulled by horses rather than a tractor.
