This post is about keeping your dorm room clean.

No matter how messy you were at your home, you most likely want your dorm room to always be clean.
I know that when I was living at home I never made my bed and always had a pile of something on my desk. In my dorm, I clean daily and never have any junk lying around.
Here’s what I do on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to keep my dorm in tip top shape.
Daily
Every day I complete these same tasks. This keeps my room clean at all times, starting as soon as I get out of bed! I recommend coming up with some kind of daily cleaning schedule that works for you, and sticking with it. This will keep your room always ready for company!
- Make my bed
- Organize under bed
- Spot clean all furniture/surfaces
- Keep all items in shelves/bins
Multiple Times a Week
These are tasks that I don’t do every day, but need to be done more than once a week. The biggest one on the list would be doing our dishes. We have a dirty dish bin that we keep on top of one of our closets. This keeps our dirty dishes off of our desks or other surfaces while we wait to wash them!

- Fill Brita tank
- Fill keurig
- Wash Dishes
- Water plants
- Empty garbage and recycling

Weekly
Every week I take a day to complete all of this cleaning. I usually make this day Sunday, my least busy day and the day before the craziness of classes starts again. Starting my week on Monday with a clean room and clear mind is a great thing!

- Laundry
- Clean fish tank
- Vacuum
- Organize all bins and shelves
- Wipe down surfaces with clorox wipe
- Organize clothes in closet
- Wash blankets and bed linens
Monthly
Every month I seriously deep clean my dorm. Since my space in the dorm isn’t very big, this doesn’t take very long – a few hours at the most. (I do make sure to schedule this in advance on my google calendar though!) Living so closely with other people, I pay special attention to disinfecting all areas of my dorm during this time. I really would hate to come down with the stomach flu and have to recover in a dorm – with a roommate.

I also take this time to set aside items that I haven’t been using or wearing. These items I can take home when I visit next. This keeps my room from getting too cluttered and can even make my space feel cleaner and more open!
- Lysol spray bed mattress
- Deep clean under bed
- Organize under bed
- Organize and clean all shelves and bins
- Get rid of clutter
- Set aside items I need to take home

There it is! Everything I do in a month to keep my dorm super clean at all times. I really recommend getting in the habit of keeping your dorm clean too. I’ve found that I’m much more productive, and everyone likes coming in our room because it’s always so clean!
