This post is about Valentine’s Day Outfit ideas.
Valentine’s Day is a great time to dress up and enjoy time with the people you love. However, I fully believe that Valentine’s Day is a time to do what you feel is best for yourself, whether that be spending time with a significant other, another loved one in your life, or taking a day to yourself to recuperate.
When it comes to Valentine’s Day outfits, your choice completely depends on what kind of event you will be attending. Get together game night with your friends? You’ll probably choose the casual clothes you wear on a day to day basis. Date night with a significant other? Maybe a little more dressed up. Self-care day to rest? Probably pajamas.
In this post, I round up the best Valentine’s Day outfits for every occasion. Valentine’s Day is meant to be celebrated in many different ways, and here is where to find Valentine’s Day outfits that are appropriate for each way. I show you the cutest, casual, most romantic, Valentine’s Day outfits that you can wear in the winter, or to work, too.
Here are 14 Valentine’s Day outfits, perfect for however you choose to celebrate.
VALENTINE’S DAY OUTFIT IDEAS
MY FAVORITE RED PIECES
Red is a staple surrounding Valentine’s Day and tons of super cute Valentine’s Day outfits use red pieces to showcase the famous Valentine’s Day color. Here are all of my favorite red pieces! Remember, since they’re just red, they can be worn and mixed and matched with endless other outfits.
HIGH-NECKED BODYCON DRESS
This tight red dress is perfect for wearing on its own, or with a fluffy cardigan on top of it. I really love how it’s high-necked, which makes it so much more flattering.
FLUFFY SHAGGY OVERSIZED COAT
This shaggy oversized coat is perfect for wearing over an all-black outfit. I really love this over a black crop top, and some black pants to go with it. What a way to make a statement!
PLAID PANTS
I got a pair similar to these that had more green tones, and I am absolutely obsessed. They are so comfy, yet so stylish. I recommend wearing these showstopping pants with a white or black button-up blouse.
BLAZER
A blazer is a timeless piece, and I love blazers when they’re in accent colors and paired with a neutral outfit. If you’re going to a fancy dinner on Valentine’s Day, this is the perfect way to instantly dress up an outfit.
PENCIL SKIRT
Just like a blazer, pencil skirts are timeless and can be worn in a variety of circumstances. I really like this longer pencil skirt paired with some nude high heels and a black or white button-up shirt that’s tucked in.
COLD WEATHER VALENTINE’S OUTFIT MUST-HAVES
I live in Northern Minnesota, which is essentially Canada, which means its absolutely freezing in February. This being said, I ended up learning a thing or two over the years of how to be fashion-forward without getting hypothermia.
NEUTRAL CHUNKY SWEATER
A chunky sweater is a timeless piece and can be paired with tons of different clothes to create endless outfit possibilities. A large, chunky knit sweater usually ends up being a bit pricier. Due to this, I recommend getting a neutral color rather than red. This makes the sweater a lot more versatile, and you can continue to wear it all throughout the winter months.
EXTRA LONG TRENCH COAT
I find that my biggest problem with dressing up in the winter months is not ruining the look with a typical winter coat. The only alternative that I’ve been able to find has been an extra-long trench coat. They’re just as warm as they are fashionable!
THIGH-HIGH BOOTS
If you still want to wear a skirt on Valentine’s Day, I recommend pairing it with either thigh-high boots or some thick nylon tights. Here are my favorite picks for some super fashionable boots.
BLANKET SCARF
A blanket scarf is such a great accessory, and it keeps you considerably warmer! I really like an extra-large plaid blanket scarf paired with a solid black top, solid red skirt, and some thick black nylons. Pair with the extra-long trenchcoat listed above. Such a cute outfit that you’re guaranteed to stay warm in!
MATCHING KNIT MITTENS AND HAT
Nothing beats the cold like some mittens and a hat. I really like how well a matching set of mittens and hats can pair with a nice outfit. My favorite type of hat and mittens are knit ones! Here are some of my favorites.
CASUAL VALENTINE’S DAY OUTFITS
If going out to a super fancy restaurant isn’t your thing, a casual Valentine’s Day outfit might be more of what you’re looking for. Here are my favorite options.
LOOSE RED PANTS WITH WHITE LACE TOP
This combination is perfect to look absolutely stunning in red, and at the same time, all of these pieces are great to mix and match with other clothes for some awesome outfits.
BOYFRIEND JEANS, RED BLOUSE, LEATHER JACKET
I love this outfit for much more than just a Valentine’s Day outfit. It’s super fashion-forward and can be mixed and matched with a ton of other pieces.
LARGE RED SWEATER AND JEANS
A simple way to throw together a Valentine’s Day outfit is wearing a simple oversized red sweater, some jeans, and some ankle boots. Odds are, you probably already have these items at home!
RED TRENCH COAT AND RED POINTED HEELS
Here’s a super simple way to top any casual outfit and instantly make it Valentine’s Day red. The additions of the red coat and heels dress up a casual outfit just the tiniest bit, and I think the heels look fantastic with some jeans. All that’s left for this outfit is a top of your choice!
