This post is about college dorm rooms perfect for your freshman college year.

It’s time to decorate your dorm room! This was the best part of moving into my college dorm. I spent hours looking through photos to find the perfect dorm for my freshman year, and I ended up putting together all of my favorite wall art ideas, bedding options, and organization hacks!

Decorating and designing a dorm room is so much fun! You finally have your own space to decorate however you want. I recommend looking at a variety of different dorm rooms, to really mix and match and make it truly your own.

Have a wonderful college move in, and put together some of these amazing tips and decor ideas, perfect for your dorm.

These are the cutest dorm rooms for your freshman college year. Enjoy!

Freshman College Dorm Rooms

1. Gallery Wall

I love the creativity that can go behind gallery walls in dorm rooms. One thing I didn’t do with my gallery wall was add hanging plants. Plants add a lot of dimension to a dorm room, especially one that’s lacking in greenery from plants outside the window. Bring the greenery with you, and hang it on the wall!

If you choose to put your gallery wall above your bed, it’s a great idea to keep the theme going throughout your bedding. My favorite way to do this is with throw pillows.

2. Hammock Chair

If you’re allowed to loft your bed at school, definitely do it!

Take it from me, a half loft is nothing like a full loft. One of my favorite tips for college dorm rooms is utilizing vertical space, which lofted beds do wonderfully!

If you are able to loft your bed, a great option is to hang a hammock chair underneath. This adds super cute and super functional decor, perfect for guests.

3. Tiered Rolling Cart

A three tier rolling cart is an absolute essential for every college dorm room. If you’re going to buy one thing that’s a little more expensive, let it be this!

I kept it next to my bed as a makeshift nightstand and organized any odds and ends into it.

4. Lights on Lights

Add lights wherever you can in your dorm. They’re perfect for when you just can’t handle the harsh overhead lights, and they’re great options for super cute decor.

If you are planning to have a gallery wall in your dorm, I highly recommend adding fairy lights all around it. I did this to my gallery wall, and it added the perfect finishing touch.

5. Tulle Ceiling

I love how this ceiling is decorated with tulle and lights. Plus, we can’t help but notice the fur ottoman!

If super cute decor that decorates literally every inch of the dorm is your thing, this is a perfect idea for you.

Ottoman’s are a must in any college freshman dorm room, and a fur one is so fun and trendy.

6. Pink and Gold Theme

I love the pink and gold theme of this room. I might be a little biased, because my freshman year college dorm was also pink and gold!

The added carpet, seating options, bedding, and picture displays are all worth noting when copying this cute freshman dorm room!

7. Rose Gold Tapestry

Rose gold is such a trendy color, making it an even more trendy dorm room theme. I personally had a rose gold dorm room theme, and it came together very nicely!

One of my favorite ways to add a rose gold theme to a dorm room is with a rose gold tapestry. I love the addition of adding lights on top of a tapestry, too.

8. Clock and Lights

I am obsessed with the clean, minimalist look of this dorm room. If you’re able to, go for a minimalist dorm room in terms of amount of stuff, and keep the decor clean, but prominent.

I especially love the lights and the circular clock on the wall! The throw pillows and throw blanket add some gorgeous accents, as well!

9. Lofted and Organized

Fill as much space as possible with organization units in your dorm. The first thing you’ll run out of is drawers that come with the dorm room!

10. Mirror and Flowers

A round mirror surrounded by these flowers adds some color to this bright white room. Most dorm rooms are shockingly white, so decor ideas like this are perfect.

11. Coffee Bar

A coffee bar is such a great idea for a dorm room!

We kept our keurig in our dorm room above our microwave, and I definitely wish we would have made a coffee bar instead.

It’s really easy to add some plastic shelving with your keurig underneath, and organize coffee and cups on top.

12. Floating Shelves and Plants

I love the addition of the floating shelves above this desk!

Plants are a wonderful addition to a dorm room. Make sure you check where your dorm room is located in a building, some dorm rooms get little natural light.

Salt lamps are so trendy and such a cute addition to your 2019 freshman college dorm!

13. Food Station

I always had trouble figuring out where to put my dishes and settled for an empty desk drawer. I really wish I would have thought of a food station!

Food stations are easily made out of plastic shelving that’s easily assembled and dissembled. If your dorm room is big enough, this is definitely worth the use of space!

You can even have the top “shelf” of your food station as a coffee bar, and the bottom shelves as your food and dish storage.

14. Gallery Desk Wall

The idea of a gallery wall full of posters, pictures, and canvas prints is so cute! I love gallery walls in college freshman dorm rooms, especially this one!

15. Lofted Organization

The organization under this lofted bed is so useful and aesthetically pleasing!

The tulle, lights, gray throw pillow, keurig, and various furniture pieces used for organization are all to note in this picture.

16. Yellow Accents

Yellow is one of my favorite colors, and is especially one of my favorite colors for a college dorm room.

Here are my favorite yellow decor items, perfect for a dorm room and a perfect college lifestyle!

17. Dark Accents

Most college dorm rooms have super super white walls.

While you want to keep your dorm room bright and cozy, dark accents are perfect for adding a ton of dimension to an already super white dorm room.

Here’s my favorite dark accents for your freshman year college dorm room.

18. Rose Gold Cage

The lights strung across the ceiling and the addition of rose gold caging with pictures hanging off it are notable features of this adorable 2019 college dorm room!

The dark carpet paired with the light bedding is a great feature as well.

This post showed you 18 dorm rooms you need to copy for your freshman dorm room.
