Apartment Holiday Decor Ideas | 25 Must Have Apartment Holiday Decor

This post is about holiday apartment decor ideas.

The holiday season!

If you’ve been inside a store since November 1st, you’ll know that the Holidays suddenly seem to be in full swing. Love it or hate it, it’s here!

The holidays are a cheery time of friends and family, and it seems to be everyone’s favorite time of the year to decorate. I personally love decorating for the holidays, especially since holiday decorations are so bright and colorful.

If you’re living in your first apartment, this is the perfect time to experiment with decorating for the holidays. You’re in your own space, you can decorate it however you want to, and you can invite friends and family over to your colorful, cheerful space!

This post is a round up of the best holiday decor ideas. We have DIY holiday decor, holiday decor perfect for a small apartment, and general fall and winter decor – to keep up past December!

Here’s 25 holiday decor ideas, perfect for your apartment.

DIY HOLIDAY DECOR IDEAS

LIVING ROOM

1. UPDATE THROW PILLOW COVERS

If you’ve read any other decor posts on my site, you’ll know that I highly recommend getting throw pillows and inserts, to be able to change your throw pillows according to the season. This is perfect for the holiday season!

Here’s some super cute holiday throw pillow covers, and some throw pillow inserts in case you don’t have any.

2. HOLIDAY THROW BLANKET

This is a great example of a holiday decor item that you can keep out way past December. A cute, cozy blanket is perfect for getting into the holiday spirit without spending too much money.

3. LIGHTED BRANCH

When sifting around for holiday decor ideas, I found this absolutely adorable piece!

This is a big statement piece, perfect for an open living room. I think that this piece is absolutely perfect if you’re planning on hosting a Holiday party.

4. TABLE TOP TREES

These mini trees are adorable, and perfect for getting your living room in the holiday spirit. Mini trees are super cute to decorate with fairy lights, tinsel, and some ribbon. You can even add mini ornaments, if you would like!

5. SNOW COVERED TREE

If real trees are your thing, that’s awesome! However, I really recommend a fake tree for an apartment. They don’t shed at all, and they’re easy to put up and take down.

This tree is the perfect size for an apartment. It’s a 6 foot tree, but it’s not huge, and will be easy to store when it’s not the holiday months. I really like how this one is covered in fake snow, too!

6. GARLAND STRAND

A garland strand is perfect for apartment decor! You can wrap it around essentially anything in your living room, or it looks amazing strung on a blank wall with some command hooks. If you want to get really fancy, you can create a holiday gallery wall with this strand of garland running through it.

DINING ROOM

1. RED BERRY CENTERPIECE

This is such a cute holiday centerpiece, especially if you’re planning on hosting a holiday dinner. I love how much the red berries stand out, and this is the perfect plant decor for winter.

This iconic centerpiece comes with its own super cute vase. if you want to dress it up further, I included some thick silver ribbon that’s perfect for tying in a bow around it.

2. FLAMELESS CANDLES

These flameless candles are perfect for adding to your centerpiece, or creating a centerpiece of their own. A lot of apartments don’t allow any sort of open flame, so this is the perfect alternative! I love how these candles come in different sizes, perfect for creating a centerpiece.

3. RED CHECKER TABLE RUNNER

This table runner is so cute, and perfect for the holiday season. Not only that, but this table runner can fit in with different seasons too – making it a worthy investment!

This table would look especially cute with some lights strung across it, or some of the light up candles from above in the center of it.

4. SPARKLING SNOWFLAKE TABLECLOTH

Tablecloths are perfect for the holidays, especially if you have an older table. Tablecloths are able to hide any imperfections, while keeping your dining room super festive!

5. SILVER AND RED CENTERPIECE

This centerpiece is affordable, super festive, and really cute. I like how it’s silver and red, perfect for adding some lights or candles around it.

ENTRYWAY/DOOR

1. JOY DOOR DECORATION

This door decor is perfect if you don’t have time to invest into decorating, or if you’re on a tighter holiday decor budget. I like how big this door piece is, and it’s super easy to hang up.

2. SILVER ACCENT WREATH

Adding a wreath to your front door is a timeless holiday tradition. Sometimes, there’s local fundraisers in your community where they sell wreaths to help raise money for a cause. I recommend getting one of these!

However, if you’re unable to get one of the fundraiser wreaths, there’s super cute ones you can order online. This is one of my favorites.

3. MERRY AND BRIGHT DOOR BANNERS

If you have some space on either side of your front door, some banners are a super cute addition! I really like how this banner pairs so well with a wreath, and a strand of garland at the top.

4. PEPPERMINT DECALS

These peppermint decals are perfect for pairing with other red door decor. I love how fun and festive they are, and they’re super easy to stick on and take off as soon as the holidays are over. Plus, they’re very inexpensive.

5. HOLIDAY DOOR MAT

A door mat is a super simple way to get your door or entryway into the holiday spirit – to match the rest of your apartment!

There’s tons of holiday door mats, but here’s some of my favorites, and most recommended.

KITCHEN

1. HOLIDAY KITCHEN LINENS

There isn’t much holiday decorating that can go on in the kitchen, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t any! A super simple way to add a little holiday spirit is to switch out your normal kitchen towels with holiday themed ones.

There’s a few options below, all super cute and my absolute favorite!

2. WINE ORNAMENTS

I really like the idea of decorating some wine bottles! These little ornaments are so cute, and perfect for adding a quick and cute decoration.

3. HOLIDAY OVEN MITTS

Do you love holiday baking? Use some holiday oven mitts during all of your baking adventures. Below there’s some holiday themed oven mitts, but some just fit in with the holiday season – this way you get to use them far past the holiday season!

4. SERVING TRAYS/PLATTERS

Hosting a meal during the holidays? Serving trays or platters are an absolute must! Some platters can be more budget friendly, but won’t last as long. Others are more expensive, but will last quite a few years.

Here’s some of the cutest ones, perfect for any holiday occasion.

5. HOLIDAY CANDLES

There’s nothing like a fantastic holiday scent to get you into the holiday spirit. If your apartment allows candles, I included some sets below that are perfect for a variety of holiday scents. If your apartment doesn’t allow candles or open flames, I included some holiday scented wax for a wax warmer. Pick whichever is best for you!

BATHROOM

1. SNOWMAN BATH MAT

This bath mat is super cute, and is perfect for not only the holiday season but also the winter months!

I like the compact size of this bath mat, which makes it perfect for a small apartment bathroom. This is the perfect option for investing in a bathroom rug that will be in season for more than one month.

2. DECORATE SOAP HOLDERS

Decorating some soap holders is a really cute way to easily decorate your bathroom. I really like the look of some painted mason jar holders, and you can decorate them for the holidays with some holiday ribbon. This adds a rustic look, and you can use these soap holders year round.

3. LINE YOUR MIRROR

Lining your mirror with tinsel and garland is perfect for making a big holiday statement. I really like the trendy look of the garland below, and adding some fairy lights is perfect for getting your bathroom ready for a holiday party.

Here’s some of the cutest ones, perfect for any holiday occasion.

4. ADD A STATEMENT PIECE

If you have big enough counter space on your apartment bathroom, adding a super cute, trendy statement piece is a great way to make the whole bathroom feel like its in the holiday spirit

I really like elegant, big statement pieces that compliment the color scheme of the rest of the bathroom. Some safe bets for colors are red, or silver. Here’s some of my favorite combinations.
